1. ¿Cuál es tu nombre completo y cuándo y dónde naciste?

1. What is your full name and when and where were you born?

Adrian John Webber, nací el 27 de abril de 1958 en Worthing, Sussex en Inglaterra.

2. ¿Cómo entraste al deporte de las carreras de caballos?

2. How did you get into the sport of horse racing? 

Mi abuela solía siempre apostar un poco a los caballos como parte de su vida.

My grandmother always used to like a very small wager on the horses as part of her everyday life

3. ¿Cuándo y dónde narraste tu primera carrera?

3. Where and when did you call your first race?

Fue en el año 2010 en kyoto cuando narré una carrera de 8 corredores. 

It was probably around 2010 at Kyoto when I called a race with about 8 runners

4. Quién fue la persona que más influyó en tu carrera?

4. Who was the most influential person in your career?

Yo diría que Murray Johnson, mi colega en las transmisiones de JRA.

I would have to say Murray Johnson, my colleague on the JRA broadcasts

5. ¿Qué es lo que más disfrutas de narrar una carrera y qué es lo más difícil?

5. What do you enjoy most about calling a race and what is the most difficult?

Narrar carreras es un reto y narrarla en si es lo más difícil.

Calling races is always challenging and I guess that makes it the most difficult thing too.

6. ¿Cuál es tu caballo preferido en una carrera que hayas narrado y la mejor carrera que tu hayas narrado?

6. Who is your favorite horse you have called and the best race you have called?

Mi caballo preferido en Japón tendría que ser Deep Impact (no narré ninguna carrera de él) y la carrera que me gusta es el Takarazuka Kinen, ganado por Chrono Genesis, esa sería mi caballo preferido en una carrera que yo haya narrado.   

My favorite horse in Japan would have to be the late Deep Impact (I didn’t call any races he was in) and a call that I like is the 2020 Takarazuka Kinen, won by Chrono Genesis, so that would be my favorite horse from a race I have called

7. Si pudieras cambiar algo del hipismo ¿Qué sería?

7. If there is anything you could change about horse racing, what would it be?

Pienso que hay como otros deportes, pero a esta edad las personas necesitan vivir en lo que ellos están envueltos, por eso no cambiaré nada ahora.  

I think there’s probably too much horseracing, like so many other sports, but in this age people need to get a living from whatever they’re involved in, so that won’t change now

8. ¿Qué nos sorprendería de ti?

8. What is something that would surprise people about you?

Ya no apuesto. No siento que deba hacerlo ya que estoy inmerso en el hipismo.

I don’t really bet anymore, but I don’t feel I have to give that I’m immersed in racing the way I am now

9. ¿Cuál es tu hobby, deporte, comida, bebida, lugar, película, música, libro y profesor favorito?

9. What is your favorite:  hobby, sport, food, drink, place, movie, music, book and teacher? 

Algunos de mis hobbies son: jardinería, lectura y socializar con gente buena. Libro favorito; Oliver Twist, película preferida; Casablanca, lugar preferido, Singapore y todavía extraño la comida en Inglaterra, pastel de carne con un montón de vegetales. Mi deporte preferido fuera del hipismo es el cricket.

Some of my hobbies are gardening, reading and socializing with good people. Favorite book is Oliver Twist; favorite movie is Casablanca. Favorite place is Singapore and I still miss the food in England: meat pies with heaps of different vegetables. Favorite sport outside of racing is cricket

10. Mensaje final a tus lectores.

10. What is your final message to your readers?

Yo nunca pensé que iba a ser un comentarista hípico y por muchos años no supe lo que quería ser, pero creo que si sigues tu pasión en la vida cosas buenas vendrán.    

I never really thought I would be a racing commentator, and for many years I didn’t know what I wanted to be, but I believe that if you follow your passion in life good things will happen.
